Creedal Christians acknowledge the historic statements of the church—the Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed as well-thought-out summaries of the accomplishment of Jesus Christ. But, according to theologian N. T. Wright, the creeds jump from the birth of Christ to his death, resurrection and ascension. While these are critically important to our faith, the Gospels include many more details—about his life, his work, his relationships, even one story about his childhood. Why these details?

Maybe because daily life isn’t trivial to God. Christ experienced every part of life on Earth because it ultimately comes from Him and His mission included redeeming them all. In the words of “Joy to the World” “He comes to make His blessings flow far as the curse is found.”

It’s revealed in the name Immanuel—God with us. He literally set His divine foot in this broken world and claimed every part of it as His own. And if He chose to do that, then no aspect of human life is insignificant. For ThePointRadio, I’m John Stonestreet.
