Sometimes the biggest barrier to communicating your worldview is not understanding other worldviews, and which one is shaping the thinking of others we are communicating with. Worldviews are powerful, and the person next door may think they live in a different world than the world Christianity describes. Understanding this is huge.
That’s why my colleague Dr. Glenn Sunshine wrote his new book Portals: Entering Your Neighbor’s World. Chuck Colson asked Glenn to provide this brief, accesible introduction to seven major worldviews: Historic Christianity, Secular Naturalism, Postmodernism, Islam, Eastern Religions, New Age, and the Gaian worldview, the one behind much of contemporary environmentalism.
Each worldview is described in terms of what Chuck considered the four fundamental worldview questions: Where do I come from? What’s wrong with the world? Is there a solution? and How should I live?
And, it’s just the right size to stuff in a stocking.
