JT Eberhard recently joined the atheist portal at, a large inter-religious blogging site. And, he unwisely decided in his first post to take on a post by Timothy Dalrymple, a thoughtful blogger and one of the editorial directors at Patheos. Dalrymple had expressed his disdain that unborn children are exterminated through abortion. Eberhard responded with what have become the shallow and thoughtless “straw-man” misrepresentations and assumptions about the pro-life position typical of fundamentalist pro-abortion voices.

Well, Dalrymple’s reply clearly and cogently revealed how poorly thought out and expressed Eberhard’s arguments were. Eberhard was clearly in over his head.

This underscores what my friend Scott Klusendorf of Pro-Life Training says, “The pro-life side clearly has better arguments.” If you don’t know them, Scott’s book The Case for Life is the place to learn them. For, I’m John Stonestreet.
