The last two days, I’ve described some troubling statements from the Obama administration. And I know I risk being called too political, or brainwashed by Republicans and the religious Right who only caring about abortion and gay marriage.

I do have political positions, but issues concerning human life, ethics, and religious freedom are not political concerns for me -- they’re convictions I hold due to my highest commitment to the truth I find in the Scriptures and the revealed character of God in Jesus Christ. But, these convictions are confronted by political realities, like abortion on demand and replacements for the family. And, while these aren’t the only I care about, these are foundational ones. Still, these issues must be addressed by more than just politics. In the tradition of William Wilberforce, broad cultural movements that include, but are not limited to, politics can lead to important change.

This is the focus of the Wilberforce Weekend hosted by the Colson Center and Breakpoint. Find out more at thePointRadio.org.  I’m John Stonestreet.
